8 Effective Ways to Not Burnout as a Struggling Entrepreneur

Building and maintaining a business is tiring work.
Often filled with late nights, multiple jobs, and copious amounts of coffee.

It is easy to become discouraged and begin wondering “Why am I doing this again?” This is especially true during the start up of becoming self-employed.

Here, I would like to tell you how you can keep the momentum, and efficiently balance self-care with work life.

Get Enough Rest

Though balancing the day job and at-home work, it can be difficult to sneak in some ZZZ’s. Set specific hours in the night to get a good 8 hours of sleep and stick to it. If you’re still running low, a power nap of 20 minutes is magical.

Stay Hydrated

Water is the nervous systems conductor. Dehydrated, you begin to shut down and your mind will fog. Stay hydrated to boost focus and energy levels. Aim for half your bodyweight in ounces each day.

Exercise keeps the mind sharp and the body energized so you can work longer, and harder. Try to get in 60-90 minutes, 3 times a week. If not, High-Intensity Interval Training allows you to get the same benefits in a fraction of the time.

Hire a Coach

Hiring a coach who knows the process and has done it themselves can be extremely beneficial. They are the person that can keep you on track, reminded of your goals, and continuously growing in your business without neglecting your personal needs. You can find more information here if you feel this is something that could support your dreams becoming reality.

Breathing exercises, such as Breath of Fire, can oxygenate and energize the body in just a few minutes. Check out this video to find out how to obtain the full benefits of this better-than-coffee technique.

Practice Inversions

If you can do a handstand, great. If not, a simple “legs up the wall” will do. Simply scootch your butt up against a wall, lay down, and raise your legs up above you. Rest your legs up on the wall and relax. The blood flow from your legs to your head will drain any lactic acid build up (commonly causes cramping from sitting too long) and enhance your energy and focus.

Get Out in Nature

There are studies showing that by “forest bathing,” you can completely reset you energy field and boost vitality. In early medical journals written by doctor Franklin B. Hough, forests have a “cheerful and tranquilizing influence which they exert upon the mind, more especially when worn down by mental labor.”

Remember Why You’re Doing It

Most importantly, you have to constantly remind yourself what it is that motivates you. Why are you becoming an entrepreneur? What inspires you so much, that you are willing to put in the work to share it with others? This is the guiding force that pushes you forward, because this is the call of your heart.
